flash from the past.
A little while ago, I deleted everything on thecmtmdotcom. I didn’t really have any reason besides the fact that I wanted to press restart. So I did. I deleted every photo and blog entry from the past two years. It felt good…until I realized I had lost a lot of my photos when my hard drive crashed about a year ago and now had lost quite a few memories by deleting the brog. When moving out of my Brooklyn apt, I found an external hard drive that I decided to check out when I got a second. Low and behold, I found a bunch of photos that I assumed were gone forever. Below are a few of my favorites. I used to take a lot more photos. I used to write a lot more and I used to dress way cooler. When I moved to Williamsburg, I thought I was going to totally let go and take all of my creativity to a whole new level. Well, my camera was stolen, I worked 14 hour days just so I could eat, and I got sick of being compared to hipsters due to my style choices. I lost a sense of who I was and I missed my friends. I came to the conclusion that I shouldn’t fight where I feel the most comfortable and that’s Burlington, Vermont. I packed up my jewels and got in the car. I moved back to Vermont and I couldn’t be happier. I am buying a bike and a camera and I feel the creativity already filling my veins. thecmtm is back and in a BIG way.

the MASTER cleanse.
“I just moved back to Burlington after being in New York City for 2 years and you’re doing the cleanse? For real?”
Yes, my best friend and favorite person ever, Bess is on day SIX of the MASTER CLEANSE. For those who don’t know, the MASTER CLEANSE consists of not eating or drinking anything but some liquid concoction of water, lemons, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup. She has been drinking this mixture for 5 days now. She has to start every morning with a “salt bath,” which I suppose is the whole cleansing aspect of the 10 day trip. Oh and she can drink water and peppermint tea, as well. Nonetheless, beer, BBQs, and even vodkawaters are not allowed. She is doing the cleanse for herself. Nobody else.
This past weekend was my first weekend back in Burlington, Vermont after living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for the past two years of my life. I could not of asked for a better weekend. We hung at the beach, we drank PBRs by noon, BBQ’d, and hung at the Burton Bowl. We caught up with old friends and laughed till our stomache’s hurt. Some of us “blonde moshed” and some of us ate rise-and-shiners (bacon egg and cheese/hash brown delights from kountry kart deli) at 2 a.m. If felt like 2006. It felt like home.
Bess Aili hung out with us…the entire time. She packed her cooler of concoctions and sipped on maple-lemon water for hours on end. She saved my life when I was too drunk to keep going and she drank peppermint tea when we all ate hungover herby turkeys from Breugger’s Bagel. When we went BBQ shopping, she bought lemons and syrup. She stayed strong and she kept on the cleanse. She was hungry and I’m sure she wanted to sling back a jack and coke, but she didn’t.
You know how someone always has a story of a friend that tried to do it, but only got to day 3 or 4. Well, I already have a friend that got past that. And I know I will soon have a friend that successfully completed THE MASTER CLEANSE. I am proud of Bess for many a things. This is just one more success she can add to her achievements. She is amazing. She is Bess.
some girls have friends. others have sisters.
Let’s just say, we are in the “others” category. I have been a lot of places. Partly because I am a gypsy and partly because I have a commitment issue. I get anxiety when I am in one place for longer than a year. I have come to terms with this. I can now control this issue of mine. Coming up quick on the ripe age of 25, I feel content with where I am in life. No, I don’t own a house. I don’t have a steady career path. I have no money saved. I drink the cheapest beer I can. I’ve learned to survive on apples and goldfish. I put outfits together for less than $10 so I can spend $400 on a pair of shoes. Nonetheless, I am happy. That is a lot more than most American’s can say. I know people that will work everyday for the rest of their life for their idea of what the perfect life should be….just to die before that ever happens. Of course, I have dreams! I want to own a store. I want to have a family and marry the man of my dreams. That man I hope to be the best boyfriend I’ve ever had in my life, Mr. Hardin. I love him with all my heart. I want to live in a place where age doesn’t matter and the first thing that comes out of your mouth isn’t, “Oh, so what do you do?” I’ve learned a lot and experienced even more. Throughout all of it, I have been inspired. Mostly by women who I now have the privilege of calling my friends. Some move away and some move even further. At this point, we are all over the country. From New England to NYC to Philly to Northern California to Southern California and everywhere in between—we are everywhere.
We’ve laughed together. We’ve cried together. We’ve thrifted together. We’ve eaten till we feel like we are gonna puke. We’ve partied till we feel like we are gonna puke. We’ve puked together. We’ve traveled together. We’ve left each other. We’ve come back together. We’ve visited each other. We’ve danced till the sun came up. We’ve walked 3 miles in a snowstorm together. We’ve snowboarded together. We wore flannels before they were hip together. We’ve set goals together. We’ve quit together. We have most certainly missed each other. But we know we are always there. We are each others inspiration. And with each other, we achieve our dreams.
I have the best sisters a girl could ever ask for. We are each others light. We are unstoppable. For this, I am thankful.
and since we’re talking shoes.
we minus well talk about these. and how i need them. they are apart of chloe sevenigny’s fall 2009 collection for opening ceremony. i almost want to buy these now and wear them with socks into the fall/early winter. they are worth as much wear as they can withold.

there is actually a lot of things that i want, love, loathe, lust, need, will be saving my pennies for…i cannot tell you about all of them. but i will leak a few. go to openinceremony.us or shopbop.com for these.
on my way to work, i fell in love with these…
on my way to equinox:greenwich this past weekend, i passed by a store i often like to pop my head into. that store being otte. it is located at 121 greenwich avenue. right off the 8th avenue l train and 14th street blue line. there is also an otte in williamsburg, brooklyn and on madison avenue. click here for the rest of the locations. i actually just hit up the “closing sale” at otte in williamsburg. however, i kind of overheard the staff talking about how they are actually going to be re-opening with all new product and aesthetic. so we will see. anyway, back to the story. i fell in love with these shoes in the window. they are part of the alexander wang fall 2009 collection.
i have seen a few pieces of the collection in the stores and magazines now and decided i had to refresh my memory of the whole line. so i googled it like i do with everything i have a question on. i found the same style in other options such as velvet and black leather.

i would take any and all of them. i also found a lot more that i liked in the collection. you should go look at it on revolveclothing.com‘s “new venue” for brands such as alexander wang, jeremy scott, rag & bone, and other such as vena cava and missoni. the luxury designer site can be found at my most wanted domain name…fashionforward dot com. the site has some great brands due to their smart buyers. i like their style. the site has sale items too, which is always amazing. i found these other pieces from alexander wang’s fall collection that i would definetly add to my closet as well.

f

yummmm. i cannot wait for fall.
almost a month ago, the fourth was insanity.
here are some shots of our fourth of july bbq at good ol’ dobbin block. i know its kinda after the fact, but who cares. i got really drunk and so did everyone else. we drank beers and ate cupcakes. maemae manned the grill, while i ate all the ribs. there were dirtbikes and soccer balls and kids walking around on stilts. here’s a look at the fourth through the eyes of a five foot one little filipino miss–no not me, yoshi! i had my camera, but the lens cracked due to my lack of tech wraps. god bless america-especially brooklyn.

i got brogspotted.
here i am in “street style” for stylecaster.com. i was just minding my own business shopping at barney’s, when mr. joseph d’arco pulled me aside and asked to take my picture. i was very excited when i found out it was for stylecaster. i have talked about this site before, but it just keeps on getting better and better! you have to go and check it out for yourself. and if you want to see more stylecaster streetstyle, click my pic below.
i’m surprised blottz didn’t think of this first.
for the person who has more gadgets than the inspector himself, Fragment Design has come up with the perfect solution for all your traveling needs. the Tech Wrap is meant to protect your toys while transporting. they make perfect sense. it’s items like this that make me scratch my head and wonder, “why didn’t i think of this first?”
